Getting together with Alisha and Mitch for their engagement session was a highly anticipated shoot for me. For starters, it was my first engagement session back since the shut down, and I couldn’t wait to get back to working with my couples. Second, we were meeting at a wonderful location, Stony Hill Acres farms, which has some magnificent Christmas trees that make a beautiful backdrop for pictures, and last, they were bringing their dog to incorporate into some of their pictures, and if you know anything about me, I am a dog nut.
When Alisha and I met together in January to talk through her and Mitch’s wedding day, she wanted to have their engagement session at a tree farm since Mitch had proposed at one. It was such a great idea! Most people wouldn’t usually think of a Christmas tree farm in the off-season for pictures, but, really, EVERY season is beautiful at a tree farm. Stony Hill Acres in Palermo was super gracious (as they always are) and gave us free rein of their farm. Alisha and Mitch were like relaxed pros for their session, which made flying through images such a breeze. And because they were so comfortable and confident, their images came out so beautifully.
And, the third participant in the pictures was Ace, Alisha and Mitch’s dog. Ace is probably the coolest dog I think I’ve ever met, and that’s saying a lot since I’m kind of partial to my own dog family. He is the first dog that I have ever seen that was 100% beer-motivated. That handsome guy would do anything for a little lick of beer. Normally, with dogs, I’m juggling treats and a camera to get their attention. With Ace, as long as the beer can was in hand, he was totally a camera ham.
Alisha and Mitch will be celebrating their wedding day this coming November at Arrowhead Lodge in Brewerton.
